Block the Light VS Darkening Shades
The difference between room darkening and blackout describes the environment of the room simply being darkened, or the light being completely blocked out. There are a number of factors that can influence whether your room is darkened, or if you have it ultra-dark. The opacity of the fabric plays a large role, as does the type of window coverings you select. The make-up of the windows can also dictate how dark the space can get.
From Light to Dark
One of our most popular features, due to the ability to bring in soft light in one position and block out the light in the other, is Duolite. Sit back and relax, as the front, light-filtering shade invite softened light and dynamic views. Then, when you’re ready to darken the room, lower the blackout roller shades. Lowering in place behind the front, you’ll block entering light with ease.
Light Gaps
Light gaps are slivers of light that can show up along the edges of lowered window coverings on bright days. If you have concerns about blocking out light entirely during the day, there a few details to consider. The type of window coverings you select can increase or decrease the amount of light. The window frame and how the shades are mounted can contribute. With the LightLock system, the installed U-channels seal out the incoming light for complete darkness. Some homeowners also like the idea of using draperies, layered at the edges to block the light.
